Movie Review: Tutak Tutak Tutiya, It's Tutiyapa And Not Ch*****pa

No pretensions or self-indulgence, and you have a product which makes you grin almost till the end. That's M Vijay's latest film Tutak Tutak Tutiya. Neither the director nor Sonu Sood (producer) try to make you believe at any point that they've made intelligent stuff, so you'll be pleasantly surprised that the film has a story and an element of suspense as well.

Prabhu Deva is married off to Tamannaah against his wishes and before it thunders and the showers come down, a spirit of a dead woman enters Tamannaah's body. At once, she acquires another avatar- the spirit of a certain Ruby who committed suicide some years ago. So while the simple one (wife) pairs off with Prabhu, the modern one is rubbing shoulders with a superstar Raj Khanna essayed by Sonu Sood.

Who is Ruby and what happens after she and Sonu became a on-screen hit jodi, forms the rest of the story.

The film relies more on the twists and turns in the plot, which are rampant.

The music is bad, the production values could have better- but the performances are rather sincere.

Prabhu Deva is excellent, his comic timing is just perfect. He has literally thrown himself into the role. This is his third triumph in Bollywood- choreography, direction and now acting. He struggles a bit at the start, but gets into top form post interval.

Tamannaah covers herself from head to toe in her first avatar but gets into a full-on skin show in her second. The actress carries out both roles effectively.

Sood is his usual committed self, but needs to be asked that why he tries to copy Shah Rukh Khan. There can be only one King, FYI Mr Sood. Moreover, it's high time now that he reduces his shirtless screen time.

Murli Sharma impresses, albeit in a small role.

This film seems to have initially been just a proposal from M VIjay to Sonu or vice versa, but turns out to be a labour-of-love all right.

M VIjay obviously doesn't know how to end the film, so Tamannah gets pregnant even without having had sex with her husband, and mind you she hasn't used any artificial method of insemination as well!

Yet you'll come out saying Tutiyapa and not Ch*****pa.
